Thanks for any information and clarification on this Will Photos automatically include my iPhone photos and videos into the same organizational structure as files from my camera? For example, if I shot some images with my Fuji X-H1 on Oct 15 at 10am, then shot some photos or video with my iPhone on the same day at 10:05, will Photos place them one after the other in order of time taken? How easy/difficult is it to move/copy image files from Photos to another drive with my own file structure on it? For example, if Photos organizes my files by month, can I easily select all the images for a given month and copy them to my own folder onto another drive? ![]() If I connect a 4 or 5tb external HDD (thinking of the G-Drive 7200 rpm drives), can I indeed use that as my main photos library? If so how should it be formatted? I have my other drives exfat for use with windows machines if necessary. ![]() I have a backup system (Amazon Photos for cloud and numerous hard drives) so that is not a factor in my question here. I will not be using iCloud, as the library will be for local editing only. I would like to use external drives (or one large one) to be my main library controlled by the Photos app. I'd like to attempt to clean up errors, duplications, etc. That said, I would like introduce a second organizational system by using the abilities of the Photos app, to try overhaul my own file organization system. I am quite happy with it for most purposes, as it reads my drives and file structures with ease. ![]() My contribution was to recommend Photoscape X as a native Mac app for a free (and upgradeable) viewer and light editor. In another thread there is a discussion on photo viewers and organizers.
